2012 Hot Stocks

Body - Wheel base: Any American Made OEM produced Coupe or Sedan body and must be rear wheel drive. Sheet metal bodies ok. Air filters can pass through the hood a max of 6 inches. No ram air or fresh air systems, mud guard in front of filter ok. All exterior lamps and trim must be removed, may be covered with sheet metal. Doors must be fastened or bolted shu...t. All glass and interior trim must be removed. All openings in driver area must be covered with sheet metal so as to isolate driver compartment from engine/trunk/fuel cell and ground areas. Wheel base remain stock according to year, model, frame, used. Main roll cage tubing must be a minimum of 1 1/2 inches. Driver side must have three door bars. Aftermarket nose pieces will be allowed. Body must be a minimum of 5 inches from the ground. 7 inch max on sunvisor. Spoilers are legal, 8 inches tall maximax. Aftermarket roofs ok. Interior deck lids are allowed.

Weight - Must weigh at least 3000 lbs after race with driver in car. No tolerance. No weight or loose objects in driver's compartment or outside body. Weight must be securely mounted to frame or roll cage and painted white with car number on it.

Brakes - Must be steel OEM, drum, or disc. Must maintain OEM dimensions for hubs/rotors and calipers, cannot be lightened. Bolt pattern may be changed, larger studs allowed. Rear rotors may be aftermarket, min 0.810 inch thickness. Vented rotors only, no scalloped rotor. No floating brakes, 3 wheel brakes ok. One proportioning valve device allowed. Aftermarket pedal assembly allowed.

Bumpers - Front and rear bumpers required. Stock or fabricated ok. No sharp edges. Front bumper may not extend beyond inside tire width except cars with nose pieces. Fabricated bumpers must be capped at ends. Nerf bars allowed. One bar per side on doors, and quarter panels. Nerf bars can be 2 inches max from body.

Frame - American made passenger car stock front clip. Rear suspension must match frame used. Example: metric frame has to run coil springs or three link. Camaro’s and Nova’s must run leaf springs or three link suspension. No Four link or Z link rear suspension.

Engine - Cast iron stock OEM American made blocks only. No Chevy big blocks.

Carburetor and fuel pump - Single two or four barrel only. No duel carbs. Aftermarket air filters ok. Aftermarket fuel pumps ok. All pumps must mount in stock location. No electric fuel pumps.

Tires and wheels - 8 inch max wide wheel allowed. 15 inch diameter steel wheels only. Wheel covers and mud plugs right rear only. Bead lock on right rear only. No bleed off valves. Must run one inch steel lug nuts. Approved Hoosier asphalt pull offs only, can be groved. Must durometer 51 or higher. No softening allowed.

Ignition - One 12 volt battery only. Must be mounted securely in rear of drivers compartment or trunk area. One distributor in stock location only. No modifications allowed. MSD style distributors and ignition boxes allowed. Plugs and wires may be aftermarket. Ignition on/off switch must be clearly marked. No traction control devices of any kind.

Driveshaft - A loop is required and must be constructed of at least one quarter inch by two inch solid steel. Must be painted white and made of steel.

Transmission - OEM three, four, and five speed and automatic production - types allowed. Standards must all be clutch-operated. Bert and Brinn transmissions are permitted. With motor running and race car in stationary position, driver must be able to engage race car in gear and move forward, then backwards, at time of inspection. Clutch must be inside of bell housing for OEM production-types. Clutch types transmissions must be equipped with an explosion-proof bell housing. Aluminum must be SFI-approved (GM bell housing is not SFI approved). Automatic, Bert or Brinn transmission must have a guard (270) degrees around flex plate or fly wheel, and must be constructed of at least one quarter inch steel. Alternatively, automatic transmissions may utilize a SFI-approved aftermarket guard. All race cars must have the capability of starting without being pushed or pulled.
